United Commercial Bank PLC (UCB), Mastercard, and Grameenphone unveiled a co-branded sticker payment card on Tuesday. The new offering provides consumers in Bangladesh with a simple and convenient method for making contactless payments, along with access to cashback, rewards, and exclusive lifestyle benefits.

The event was attended by Brent T Christensen, US Ambassador to Bangladesh, as chief guest.

Also present at the event were Sharif Zahir, chairman of UCB; Mohammad Mamdudur Rashid, chief executive officer of UCB; Gautam Aggarwal, division president for India and South Asia at Mastercard; Sandun Hapugoda, country manager for Sri Lanka, Maldives, Bangladesh, Bhutan, and Nepal at Mastercard; Zakia Sultana, country manager for Bangladesh at Mastercard; and Solaiman Alam, chief product officer of Grameenphone. Senior executives from the three organizations were also in attendance.

The prepaid sticker card can be attached to a smartphone or another suitable item, enabling cardholders to make payments simply by tapping it on a contactless-enabled point-of-sale (POS) terminal.

This eliminates the need to carry a conventional payment card, making everyday transactions quicker and easier.

The card combines UCB’s banking services, Mastercard’s secure payment technology and Grameenphone’s MyGP digital ecosystem, enabling cardholders to enjoy seamless payments alongside a range of other benefits.

Cardholders can receive a 10 percent cashback on eligible OTT and bundle purchases from MyGP, MyGP Shop transactions, and learning courses, along with a 3 percent cashback on eligible GPFI subscriptions.

Eligible customers can also claim a Tk50 cashback on qualifying roaming pack purchases, along with exclusive offers at GPStar and Mastercard partner merchants, as well as accelerated MyGP Points on qualifying transactions.

All cashback offers are subject to the applicable terms and conditions.

Sharif Zahir, chairman of UCB, stated that the collaboration reflects the bank's commitment to delivering innovative financial solutions tailored to the evolving needs of its customers. He added that by combining banking, connectivity, and global payments technology, the sticker payment card offers a seamless, convenient, and rewarding method for conducting everyday digital payments.

Gautam Aggarwal, division president for India & South Asia at Mastercard, stated: “The future of payments lies in making transactions effortless, secure and seamlessly integrated into consumers’ daily routines. Through this collaboration, we are introducing an innovative form factor that expands consumer choice while supporting the continued growth of contactless payments in Bangladesh.”

The card comes with a first-year fee waiver, while the annual fee will be waived for cardholders who spend Tk100,000 or more within a calendar year.

Grameenphone Chief Product Officer Solaiman Alam stated that as consumers increasingly adopt digital lifestyles, they seek payment solutions that are simple, convenient, and relevant to everyday needs. He noted that the sticker payment card integrates payments with digital experiences customers already access via MyGP, reflecting the company's commitment to delivering greater value through digital innovation.

The introduction of the co-branded sticker payment card reflects the shared commitment of UCB, Mastercard, and Grameenphone to accelerating the adoption of contactless payments and making digital transactions more secure and rewarding for consumers across Bangladesh.
