A “Cashless Bangladesh” promotional campaign took place on Thursday, October 1, at Banani Kacha Bazar in Dhaka to advance digital payments and boost public awareness regarding Bangla QR.
Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, MP, Minister for Finance and Planning, officially inaugurated the program as the chief guest, joined by Md Ahteshamul Haque Khan, managing director and CEO of Dutch-Bangla Bank.
During the event, the finance minister completed a transaction using Bangla QR via the Dutch-Bangla Bank application. The initiative was coordinated by Bangladesh Bank in partnership with Dutch-Bangla Bank.
Emphasizing the security of the platform, the minister described Bangla QR as a fully encrypted system and called on citizens to back the government's objective of establishing a cashless society. He announced that all transactions conducted via Bangla QR under this push will remain entirely free of charge.
Highlighting convenience, he noted that consumers will no longer need physical currency, making financial exchanges faster and more straightforward. Dutch-Bangla Bank stated it continues to pursue promotional activities nationwide to encourage customers and merchants to adopt Bangla QR in alignment with state objectives.
