Dhaka, 20 Oct 2026 – The Bangladesh Furniture Shilpa Malik Samity (BFSMS) inaugurated the five‑day 21st National Furniture Fair 2026 at the International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) on Tuesday, Oct 27. The event runs through Saturday, Oct 31, occupying Halls 2, 3 and 4 of the convention centre.

The fair, held annually, is designed to spur growth in the domestic furniture sector and expand Bangladesh’s export markets. Organisers describe it as the largest gathering of the country’s furniture industry, drawing attention from local buyers and overseas trade partners.

A total of 44 leading furniture manufacturers are exhibiting across 323 stalls, showcasing new designs and product lines. Brands such as Akhtar, Hatil, Brothers, Nadia, Ayoto, Omega, JMG, Navana, Athenus, Partex, Regal and Legacy are present under one roof.

On the opening day, a children’s art competition will run in two age groups: Group A for pre‑primary to Class 4, and Group B for Classes 5‑8. Twenty young artists will compete for awards totalling roughly Tk 200,000, with registration beginning at 2:00 PM and the competition commencing at 4:00 PM.

Speaking at the press briefing, Sheikh Abdul Awal, convener of the organising committee and vice‑chairman of BFSMS, emphasized the fair’s domestic focus: “Only locally made furniture will be on display, and there will be no imported furniture. This is a great opportunity for manufacturers to show the country their latest design innovations and boost sales with discounts of up to 15 percent.”

The ceremony will be attended by senior officials, including Mohammad Hasan Arif, chief executive of the Export Promotion Bureau, who will serve as chief guest. Other dignitaries include Md Fazlul Haque of the FBCCI, KM Akhtaruzzaman of the Bangladesh Furniture Exporters Association, and Selim H Rahman, chairman of BFSMS.

The opening ceremony is scheduled for 10:30 AM in Hall 4 (Nobaratri). The fair will remain open daily from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM, with free entry and no ticket required for visitors.

Media partners ATN Bangla, Kalbela and Access Infotech will provide coverage throughout the event, highlighting the sector’s contribution to Bangladesh’s economic development.
