Shahed Akhtar currently chairs a Social Enterprise, “Asia House”. He has held significant positions such as CEO and Executive Advisor at BGCCI. He is also founding Director of The Dhaka Forum (TDF) and the Commonwealth Society, and Past President & Deputy Governor of Rotary Club of Ramna. He is actively involved with social and humanitarian work.

Editorial Role

Writes on Economic & Public Diplomacy. Editor of Deutsch Desh and the monthly bulletin.

Diplomatic Career

His earlier diplomatic assignments include: New York, Bangkok, London, Spain & Kuala Lumpur. Represented Bangladesh at International Conferences in the UN, the Law of the Seas, the Commonwealth, WTO, UNESCO, SAARC, ARF & BIMSTEC. He was a member of the UN Expert Group on SME’s on Global Value Chain.

His Ambassadorial assignments were in Spain, Thailand and Cambodia, and he was the Permanent Representative to UN-ESCAP and the WTO.

International Contribution

Member of the Commonwealth Observer Group in Ghana for Presidential and Parliamentary Elections held in December 2013.

S Akhtar is a member of KGC & Army Golf Club, Baridhara & Officers Club. He enjoys Music, Movies & Golf; and visiting places of historical & cultural interest.
