BANGLADESHI JUTE IS BETTER THAN INDIAN JUTE: INDIAN AGRICULTURE MINISTER
India's Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that the quality of jute produced in Bangladesh is much better than that of Indian jute. He made the remarks while visiting the Central Research Institute for Jute and Allied Fibers in Barrackpore, North 24 Pargana
Indian Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan admitted that Bangladeshi jute is superior in quality to Indian jute. He cited Bangladesh’s flowing water, fertile delta, and favorable climate as the main reasons for the better fiber.
The minister stated this during a visit to the Central Research Institute for Jute and Allied Fibers in Barrackpore, West Bengal. He explained that soaking jute in flowing water removes impurities and makes the fiber softer and stronger.
Despite sharing the same Ganges delta, experts agree that Bangladesh's traditional processing methods give it a global advantage. To protect local farmers, India maintains strict trade rules and anti-dumping duties on Bangladeshi jute.
