A day-long robotics festival, Robo Fest 2026, was held in Jamalpur on Sunday to introduce students to robotics, artificial intelligence and emerging technologies through interactive exhibitions and hands-on learning.
Organized by the Science and Innovation Club of United Public School & College, Jamalpur, and United Trust, in collaboration with United International University (UIU), the festival was held under the theme “A Journey into the World of Robotics”.
The festival featured technological innovations and projects developed by UIU’s Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (CAIR), including the UIU Mars Rover, UIU Aerial Robotics, UIU Rescue Rover and UIU Mariner.
Students from United Public School & College, M A Rashid Memorial Academy, and M A Gafur Memorial Academy in Jamalpur participated in the event.
Members of CAIR presented innovations across three major areas of robotics: ground, marine, and aerial. The ground robotics segment featured the Mars Rover and Rescue Rover, while the marine segment showcased the UIU Mariner. Additionally, the UIU Aerial Robotics team demonstrated its technologies and activities.
Students and visitors had the opportunity to learn about the mechanisms and practical applications of the showcased projects.
The exhibition also highlighted the achievements of UIU teams in international competitions. The UIU Mars Rover team secured third place globally and first place in Asia at the University Rover Challenge (URC) 2026, alongside the "Best Autonomous System Recognition" award.
The achievement marked a significant milestone for Bangladesh and was recognized as a unique accomplishment in the 20-year history of rover competitions in Asia.
Meanwhile, the UIU Aerial Robotics team secured fourth place globally at the Student Unmanned Aerial Systems (SUAS) 2026 competition, marking the first time a Bangladeshi team has participated in the event.
The festival aimed to develop students' innovative thinking, creativity and problem-solving skills while encouraging their interest in science and technology. Additionally, it provided opportunities for participants to gain practical knowledge of robotics, programming, artificial intelligence and engineering design.
Through initiatives such as Robo Fest 2026, the organizers seek to encourage students in Jamalpur to explore emerging technologies and participate in national and international science, programming and robotics competitions.
Why it matters
The festival highlights Bangladesh's growing prowess in international robotics competitions and aims to inspire the next generation of engineers and innovators.
