Shahed Akhtar currently chairs a Social Enterprise, “Asia House”. Since 2019 he is an Executive Advisor & CEO of BGCCI. He is also founding Director of The Dhaka Forum (TDF); and the Commonwealth Society and Past President & Deputy Governor of Rotary Club of Ramna and actively involved with social and humanitarian work. He writes on Economic & Public Diplomacy, he is an Editor of Diplomats magazine, Deutsch Desh, and monthly bulletin. His last public office was Principal of the Bangladesh Foreign Service Academy until 2009.He was also a member of the Board of Trustee Asian Institute of Technologies (AIT) and Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPC) & Member of Bangladesh Foreign Trade Institute (BFTI) and the National Training Council.

His earlier diplomatic assignments includes: New York, Bangkok, London, Spain & Kuala Lampur. He represented Bangladesh at International Conferences in the UN, the Law of the Seas, the Commonwealth, WTO, & UNESCO, SAARC, and ARF & BIMSTEC. He was a member of the UN Expert Group on SME’s on Global Value Chain. His Ambassadorial assignment was in Spain, Thailand and Cambodia, and was the Permanent Representative to UN-ESCAP and the WTO. He is a Graduate in Economics and Masters in Political Science. He was a Research Associate at the Institute of Diplomacy, Georgetown University, Washington D.C. and is a Graduate of the National Defense College. He was a Member of the Commonwealth Observer Group in Ghana for Presidential and Parliamentary Elections held in Dec 2013.  Shahed Akhtar is a member of KGC & Army Golf Club, Baridhara club & Officers Club.
