The United States has provided 500,000 dengue test kits to Bangladesh to support ongoing efforts to combat the mosquito-borne disease.
Health Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Hossain stated that the NS1 rapid diagnostic kits will be distributed in phases to upazila and district hospitals across the country.
He made the remarks during a ceremony held Thursday morning at Kurmitola General Hospital in the capital, where the US-supplied medical items were formally handed over.
Trishita Maula, chargé d’affaires at the US Embassy, handed over the kits to the Bangladeshi health authorities.
The health minister assured that the nation currently maintains an adequate stock of dengue test kits and that the government remains fully prepared to handle the public health situation.
During his visit to the facility, Minister Hossain personally inspected the emergency department, the dedicated dengue ward, and the diagnostic laboratory at Kurmitola General Hospital.
