A fire broke out at a shop on the 6th floor of Manzur Khan Plaza in the Chhoto Katara area of Chawkbazar, Dhaka, at around 5 p.m. on Monday, October 12.
Five units of the Fire Service and Civil Defence rushed to the scene and are working to bring the blaze under control.
Talha Bin Jasim, an official of the Fire Service media cell, confirmed the incident, saying, “After receiving the information, our 5 units are working to bring the fire under control.”
The cause of the fire has not yet been identified, and officials said no casualties have been reported so far.
Chawkbazar is a densely populated commercial hub in the capital, where narrow lanes and older buildings often pose challenges for emergency responders.
Local authorities have urged shop owners and building managers to review fire safety protocols and ensure that fire‑extinguishing equipment is functional.
The fire has temporarily disrupted nearby businesses and caused traffic congestion on adjacent streets as emergency vehicles navigate the area.
Fire crews remain on site to monitor the situation and prevent any re‑ignition, while investigators will later assess the origin of the blaze.
