Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Mosleh Uddin Ahmed has announced that comprehensive security measures will be implemented across the capital during the upcoming Durga Puja festival.

Speaking at a meeting on security, law and order, and traffic management held at the DMP headquarters on Tuesday, the commissioner emphasized that maximum vigilance would be maintained. Every puja mandap will be secured to ensure peaceful celebrations, he stated.

The enhanced security protocol will remain active starting from Mahalaya and continuing through the festival period and final idol immersion. Authorities plan to install CCTV cameras at all puja mandaps, while designated mandap officials will be equipped with body cameras for real-time monitoring.

In addition to technological surveillance, a robust human security presence will be deployed throughout the city. Uniformed and plainclothes police officers will patrol the areas, supported by specialized tactical units including SWAT, the Crisis Response Team, the Quick Response Team, crime scene vans, and bomb disposal units on standby.

The commissioner also urged puja committees to maintain strict vigilance over volunteers and visitors. He advised organizers to immediately contact emergency services via 999 or reach out to the nearest police station if any suspicious incidents occur.

During the meeting, puja committee leaders briefed law enforcement on their preparations and formally sought the DMP's continued cooperation in maintaining public safety and ensuring smooth traffic management throughout the festivities.
