Bangladesh’s Ambassador to Japan Md Daud Ali will remain in Dhaka for the entire period of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s scheduled visit to Japan from October 26 to 29, a decision confirmed by a senior foreign‑ministry official.
The recall order was signed on October 15, directing the ambassador to report to Dhaka within two days. The official added that Daud will stay in the capital until the prime minister’s trip concludes.
In parallel, Md Nazrul Islam, secretary for bilateral affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was dispatched to Tokyo on October 19 with special responsibilities to oversee diplomatic matters and coordinate arrangements for the visit.
Nazrul will remain in Tokyo throughout the prime minister’s stay, taking the lead in bilateral coordination and providing diplomatic support for the high‑level agenda.
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is slated to hold bilateral talks with Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi on October 27. Discussions are expected to focus on trade, investment, infrastructure development and the implementation of the Bangladesh‑Japan Economic Partnership Agreement.
Daud is scheduled to go on post‑retirement leave on December 7, after which a new ambassador will be appointed.
The recall and the deployment of Nazrul underscore the government’s intent to manage the Japan visit closely, ensuring that senior officials are positioned to handle negotiations and any emerging issues.
