State Minister Shama Obaed Islam said on Tuesday that the decision to bring Bangladesh’s Ambassador to Japan Md Daud Ali back to Dhaka during Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s upcoming Japan visit is an internal matter of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

She made the remarks after an event at the CIRDAP auditorium in Dhaka, speaking to reporters.

The ministry confirmed that Ambassador Daud Ali was asked to remain in Dhaka two days ago and will not travel to Tokyo for the visit scheduled for Oct 26‑29.

“It is absolutely an internal matter of the ministry. This is neither a national nor an international issue,” Shama said.

She highlighted the long‑standing Dhaka‑Tokyo ties, noting Japan remains Bangladesh’s top trade and development partner.

Regarding the prime minister’s visit, Shama said several memorandums of understanding are expected to be signed covering infrastructure, energy, technology, garments, education and health.

The recall underscores the ministry’s control over diplomatic postings ahead of high‑profile state visits.
