The government is working to resolve the technical problems as quickly as possible and to assist Bangladesh missions abroad with visa‑processing difficulties, as the server remains unavailable.

Efforts are underway to address the technical issues as soon as possible, a senior official told UNB on Monday night. The official noted that due to technical issues with the central system of the Department of Immigration and Passports (DIP) in Bangladesh, the Machine Readable Visa (MRV) server is currently unavailable.

He stated that all missions abroad are facing the same problem. Additionally, a visa applicant who applied from a European country told UNB that they submitted their visa application online but have been unable to proceed with the process due to the technical issue.

“Although the system indicated that I would receive an email within 24 hours of submitting the application, I have not received any email so far, while repeated calls have gone unanswered,” said the applicant.

Due to technical issues, the processing of No Visa Required (NVR) and visa applications, as well as the issuance of visas at Bangladesh Missions abroad, is experiencing a temporary delay.

Bangladesh's Department of Immigration and Passports (DIP) is working to resolve technical issues and restore its central system as quickly as possible.

The government has requested applicants to allow additional time for the processing of their applications. It has also asked them to refrain from making repeated enquiries regarding the status of their applications during this period.

Meanwhile, the Embassy of Bangladesh in Berlin issued an urgent notice expressing regret for any inconvenience caused while expressing appreciation for the patience, understanding, and cooperation of all concerned.

Applicants will be informed via the websites and Facebook pages of the missions abroad once the central system is restored and normal visa services resume.

Another official stated that the Department of Immigration and Passports (DIP) communicated information regarding the technical issues to missions abroad last week, noting that the situation applies to all.

In a public message issued on Tuesday, the Embassy of Bangladesh in Bangkok informed all visa service seekers that applicants may experience difficulties submitting visa applications or receiving visa-related services due to a temporary technical issue with the visa server.

The embassy said the concerned technical team is working to resolve the issue as soon as possible.

Applicants have been requested to bear with the temporary inconvenience and, where possible, avoid making urgent travel arrangements dependent on immediate visa processing until the system is fully restored.

The embassy regretted the inconvenience caused and appreciated the patience and understanding of all concerned.

Why it matters

The server outage halts consular services for all Bangladeshi missions abroad, directly disrupting travel and visa processing for citizens and foreign nationals.
