Dhaka, 1 Oct 2026 – Bangladesh formally opened its embassy in Ireland today, a landmark step that deepens diplomatic ties between the two nations.

The new mission began operating from a temporary chancery at Alexandra House in the Ballsbridge diplomatic district of Dublin, providing an immediate base for diplomatic activities.

Ambassador‑designate Mr. Mohammed Nore Alam assumed charge of the embassy, with plans to present his Letters of Credence to the President of Ireland in the coming weeks.

The embassy’s establishment is expected to strengthen bilateral engagement, facilitating cooperation on trade, investment, cultural exchange and other areas of mutual interest.

An estimated 25,000 Bangladeshi nationals reside in Ireland, and the embassy will serve as a dedicated point of contact for this community, enhancing outreach and support.

Consular services, including passport issuance and visa processing, will be rolled out in due course, with detailed procedures to be communicated through official channels.

Bangladesh’s government expressed optimism that the resident embassy will further deepen friendly, mutually beneficial relations with Ireland and advance shared development goals.
