Flight cancellations between Dhaka and Riyadh have continued amid security concerns in Saudi Arabia, with 159 flights cancelled since October 10, affecting 22,721 passengers.
Kawser Mahmud, assistant director of the public relations department at the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB), confirmed the figures on Friday night.
Of the cancelled flights, 82 were direct services. These included 37 operated by Biman Bangladesh Airlines, 10 by US-Bangla Airlines, 20 by Saudia, and 15 by Riyadh Air.
Another 77 were transit flights, including 30 operated by IndiGo, seven by SalamAir, one by EgyptAir, 14 by Emirates, nine by Qatar Airways, eight by flydubai and eight by Air India.
A Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) official stated that flight cancellations will remain in effect until the security situation improves.
